Recently, one of our fabbies, Allyson, received some very upsetting news. Her 2 month old nephew, Owen, was diagnosed with SMA Type I (Spinal Muscular Atrophy). SMA is a rare genetically inherited neuromuscular disease characterized by gradual muscle weakness due to loss of motor neurons of the brainstem and spinal cord. The lifespan of those affected by Type I SMA is only 1-2 years. He is a sweet and absolutely adorable little boy. In an effort to raise money for the family's medical bills and living expenses, his family has organized a fundraiser complete with a silent auction for some incredible items (including an Oh So Fab gift certificate!), a raffle, entertainment, food and drinks on June 29.
